Now he’s practically an institution: beloved family man, consummate award-show host, Tony award–winning actor, and soon to appear in one of the biggest films of the fall. Harold Lee and Kumar Patel are two Asian-American (Korean and Indian) stoners who get the munchies and embark on a quest throughout New Jersey for White Castle. ![]() You think Doogie Howser would have landed the role of a Lothario without this performance? No way. It’s no coincidence that Harris landed his role on How I Met Your Mother immediately after this film came out. ![]() In fact, though you’d assume the brand that would benefit most from this film would be the burger joint White Castle, this is where Neil Patrick Harris (or as he’s called here, for the first time maybe, NPH) became a brand unto himself. But it was enough to erase that image of the cherubic, lab coat–wearing doctor. That’s right, Harris doesn’t show up until nearly an hour into the film and he only has a handful of lines of dialogue. With all due respect to John Cho and Kal Penn, everyone knows that the real star of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle wasn’t Harold, Kumar, nor even White Castle.
